Nurse watch ratiomed blue/silver in metal tin
The nurse watch, also known as a nursing watch, is a watch normally used by nursing staff in hospitals or assistants in doctors’ surgeries. For hygiene reasons, the nurse watch is not worn on the wrist but attached to a short chain. In this way it resembles a pocket watch, but unlike a pocket watch it is not carried in a trouser or waistcoat pocket; instead, it is often clipped to clothing so that it hangs freely. Traditionally, this was the nurse’s apron. The chain of the nurse watch is shorter and often wider than that of a pocket watch. A striking difference compared to a pocket watch is that the dial is rotated by 180°. The dial of the nurse watch also shows additional scales that, for example, make it easier to measure a patient’s pulse.
