The comparison scale ensures easy interpretation of the results. The test strips have a test pad that simply needs to be dipped into the urine. Ketones can form in cases of severe insulin deficiency. In the event of a pronounced deficiency, fats are broken down; the resulting waste products are referred to as ketones/acetone. These substances are then excreted in the urine.
