Die Kern & Sohn GmbH steht für qualitative, hochpräzise Waagen und Zubehör. In unserem Sortiment finden Sie verschiedenste Waagen und Mikroskope der Marke Kern für Ihre Praxis oder Labor. Als eine der ältesten Waagenfabriken in Deutschland hat sich das mittelständische Unternehmen mit Sitz in Frommern, Baden-Württemberg, weltweit als Hersteller etabliert. Die Kern & Sohn GmbH wurde 1844 gegründet und wird seitdem als Familienunternehmen geführt.

Die Unternehmensgeschichte

Gründer Gottlieb Kern startete 1844 das Unternehmen und verkaufte Waagen an Apotheker, Chemiker aber auch Goldschmiede. 1870 stieß Gottfried Kerns Stiefsohn dazu und führte mit seinem Stiefvater das Unternehmen. Der Konzern entwickelte für seine Zeit fortschrittliche Präzisionswaagen und steuerte erheblich zur Innovation und Produktentwicklung bei.

Nach einem Einbruch der Produktion während des Ersten Weltkrieges sank die Nachfrage nach Waagen, was Kern & Sohn mit der Entwicklung von zahlreichen neuen Modellen konterte. Nach dem Tod der Inhaber im Zweiten Weltkrieg führte die Schwester der damaligen Inhaber das Unternehmen weiter. Im Zuge der weiteren Industrialisierung expandierte Kern & Sohn von mechanischen Waagen zu (halb-)elektrischen Waagen für Analyse und Laborarbeiten.
