ECMO Trainer Professional MK2
Simulator for practising extracorporeal membrane oxygenation. The training model features a venous and an arterial circuit, both supplied with adjustable circulation pumps that can be pulsatile if required. The flow rate and pulse speed of the circuits are continuously adjustable, allowing simulation of a patient with all conditions that may occur during the procedure. VA and VV ECMO can be simulated. Puncture and cannulation can be performed using real materials. The arteries have a lumen of 8 mm, the veins 10 mm. This ensures trouble-free function with all standard catheter types. The puncture pads (one pad on the right and one on the left for femoral puncture, and one for jugular puncture) are made of ultrasound-compatible material. This allows the puncture to be monitored by ultrasound up to the vessel tubing. Operation on a real ECMO device is fully possible; the trainer provides sufficient volume for real operation. The trainer has contact points for a 4-channel ECG lead, to which an ECG simulator can be connected (not included). Connections for volume measurement on the veins are also provided. As the cannulas are usually very large and leave clear puncture holes, the simulator features a simple and effective tubing management system that allows the used section of tubing to be replaced from the tubing reservoir within seconds, so no valuable training time is lost replacing the tubing.
The tubing reservoirs are invisibly integrated into the model base; the base with training torso also serves as the bottom section for the transport case with trolley wheels. Water reservoir and pump system are separate and can be easily connected to the model via hoses with quick-release couplings.
