Vinyl Gloves for Medical Use

Various Gloves for Your Practice

Vinyl gloves are a type of disposable glove made from a thin layer of PVC, a rubber-like material. They are worn to protect the hands from chemicals or infection and provide protection against blood-borne pathogens and microbes in hospitals, restaurants and laboratories. Vinyl gloves are available in different colours and sizes and can be worn on either hand. They can be used as an alternative to latex or medical gloves, although they are less elastic and more prone to tearing.

Correct Use

Vinyl disposable gloves are frequently used in medicine during surgical procedures and when cleaning wounds. They offer excellent protection against blood- or secretion-borne pathogens and chemicals that may be encountered in operating theatres. Vinyl gloves also provide resistance to most acids, oils and fats.

When wearing medical gloves, it is therefore important to put them on correctly in order to ensure sterile working conditions. The outside of the glove should be touched as little as possible. Any air bubbles should be avoided and a secure fit must be ensured.

Types of Gloves

Gloves are an essential component of healthcare and personal care. The correct type of glove should be selected according to the activity being performed, as well as individual needs and preferences. Latex gloves are made from rubber or silicone. Their primary purpose is to protect the wearer from contamination by bacteria and viruses. Latex gloves provide an excellent barrier against chemicals. They are affordable, easy to use and disposable.

Some materials used in the manufacture of gloves, such as latex, can cause reactions in people with allergies. To avoid this issue, it is important to check whether latex-free gloves are available or whether an alternative such as nitrile or vinyl gloves can be used.

Nitrile gloves are made from synthetic rubber, offer an excellent barrier against chemicals and can protect against certain viruses, but not all. They do not protect against the transmission of many common viruses such as HIV, hepatitis or influenza. They are made from synthetic rubber, which means they are more durable and do not have the same chemical sensitivity as latex. In addition, they are powder-free, making them a much better option for people with allergies or sensitivities.
