The Diagnostik Nord HB-HP test cassette detects the haemoglobin–haptoglobin (HB-HP) protein complex in addition to haemoglobin (HB) in stool. The haemoglobin–haptoglobin complex has a longer survival time within the digestive tract than haemoglobin; therefore, by detecting the protein complex the test is more sensitive for occult bleeding, including bleeding from the upper gastrointestinal tract.
