Development and assessment of patient care and nursing assistant competencies as well as auscultation skills with the all-in-one training mannequin! Nikki, the nursing mannequin with auscultation, offers 11 anterior and 4 posterior auscultation sites with 42 high-quality sounds from Cardionics. The mannequin was specifically designed for scenario-based simulation to improve patient care competence and advanced nursing skills.

Nikki, the nursing mannequin simulates an adult, life-size patient and includes the NursingScope auscultation training stethoscope. NursingScope is an electronic simulation training stethoscope developed for auscultation training purposes or O.S.C.E. (Objective Structured Clinical Examination). It works wirelessly with the controller tablet (included), providing the instructor access to Cardionics’ extensive sound library. The instructor can select and change all physiological and pathological sounds that the participant will hear with NursingScope once the stethoscope has been placed on the correct auscultation site.

Auscultation sounds can be changed seamlessly on the controller tablet for each of the 15 sites by using NursingScope’s wireless functionality. Nikki, the nursing mannequin has interchangeable genitalia and can be positioned like a real patient with natural movement of the arms, legs and joints. With the P93 PRO female catheterisation trainer, female bladder catheterisations can be realistically demonstrated, practised and evaluated either via the urethra (transurethral) or through the abdominal wall (suprapubic). The genital insert is fitted into an anatomically correct lower abdomen model using magnetic connections. The material is soft and flexible: the labia are movable and can be separated. This allows learners to practise all necessary steps (e.g. disinfection) for catheterisation. The material provides a highly realistic feel when inserting and removing the catheter into/from the bladder, with realistic resistance and insertion depths.

Direct learning effect:
When the catheter is positioned correctly, fluid flows out just as it does with a real patient. In addition, the catheter position can be checked through the transparent bladder. The abdominal wall on the PRO version can be removed so that the process during urethral catheterisation can be better visualised.

Changing and care of a suprapubic bladder catheter:
If catheterisation via the urethra is no longer possible, a suprapubic catheter must be placed. The suprapubic catheter is usually inserted by a doctor through the abdominal wall into the filled urinary bladder and fixed to the abdominal wall. With the PRO version, suprapubic catheter changes and aftercare can be practised. Aftercare includes changing the dressing, cleaning the catheter and disinfecting the wound.

Note:
For catheterisation, we recommend using catheters with only one or 2 opposite drainage eyes. Both silicone and PVC catheters can be used.
We recommend the following catheters:
Urethral constriction “Open” = 16 CH catheter or 14 CH Foley catheter
Urethral constriction “Partial constriction” = 14 CH catheter or 12 CH Foley catheter
Catheters with a curved tip should not be used!

Tip:
In accordance with the guidelines for correct catheterisation, even in simulation a small amount of lubricating gel (not included in the scope of delivery) should be introduced into the urethra or into the puncture site on the abdominal wall to ensure smooth insertion of the catheter. Alternatively, the lubricating gel can also be applied to the tip of the catheter.

The genital insert is fitted into an anatomically correct lower-torso model using magnetic connections. The material is soft and flexible: the foreskin is movable and the penis can be stretched. This allows the learner to practise all necessary steps (e.g. disinfection) for catheterisation. The material provides a lifelike feel when inserting and removing the catheter into/from the bladder, with realistic resistance and insertion depths.

Different levels of difficulty:
With the male insert, three different levels of urethral narrowing can be practised. At the tightest setting, the learner will find that urethral catheterisation is no longer possible and that a suprapubic catheter must be placed.

Immediate learning effect:
When the catheter is correctly positioned, liquid flows out, just as with a real patient. In addition, the position of the catheter can be checked via the transparent bladder. The abdominal wall on the PRO version can be removed so that the process during urethral catheterisation can be better visualised.
