These professional training models for education and practice in transurethral urinary bladder catheterisation in humans were named after Henri Dunant and Florence Nightingale to express our appreciation for these historic figures in nursing. The naming is also intended to reflect the ambition of these models: to be a milestone in nursing education and to set new standards. Both models are ideal practice patients for training and are characterised by the use of high-quality materials that are very close to the look and feel of a real person, while still being robust and hard-wearing. The lower body allows the insertion of both male and female genitalia, with strict adherence to the anatomical position of the genitals and urethra. The innovative bladder can be positioned differently within the body so that both the female and male genitalia are perfectly connected to the bladder. The shape of the bladder has been adapted so that no resistance is felt in the bladder when inserting the catheter, meaning trainees cannot “feel” the correct insertion depth. An innovative valve has also been used in the bladder so that no resistance is felt when the catheter enters the bladder—an outstanding feature that clearly sets the model apart in quality from other trainers with a conventional valve. The bladder is transparent, making the catheter position and balloon inflation visible. The bladder is connected to a fluid supply bag so that, when catheterisation is successful, fluid flows out.

The male genitalia feature a replaceable foreskin that is movable as in humans, allowing handling and hygiene to be practised. The model features the most realistic urethra of any catheterisation trainer currently on the market. All four sections of the urethra are represented with the corresponding anatomical shape and realistic resistance during catheterisation. By attaching a strap, narrowing of the prostate due to BPH or prostate cancer can be simulated, and the resulting need to use a larger or stiffer catheter can be practised.

The female genitalia are designed so that the flexible labia must be separated to locate the urethral opening. The urethral opening is designed so that it is not immediately obvious, but instead requires the same care in locating it as with a patient. The urethra provides realistic resistance when inserting the catheter.

Chest Drainage Simulator
This trainer was specially designed for theoretical and anatomical teaching, as well as for training the skills required in the treatment of pre-hospital thoracic trauma and the ongoing care of a chest drain. The right side of the simulator features two windows showing the anatomical relationships between the skin surface, musculature, ribs and lung. On the left side there is a simulated tension pneumothorax that can be pressurised using a pump. The simulator also provides access for the surgical insertion of chest drains, allowing users to practise the treatment of pleural effusions by draining fluid from the pleural cavity. The colour, volume and viscosity of the fluid are controlled by the instructor. The chest drainage manikin is ideal for teaching the concepts and mechanical functioning of closed drainage systems with a water seal, such as systems of the “Pleur-Evac” type. The simulator is supplied with a transport case. Also included are 5 replacement inserts for each of the two access ports.

Chester Chest with extended arm
Chester Chest is a lifelike model that allows practice in handling the most common types of long-term vascular access systems, such as implanted ports, central venous catheters (CVC) and peripherally inserted central catheters (PICC), on a single simple, compact, portable model. All access systems used here are clinically relevant models, not unrealistic imitations. This model offers an impressively realistic tactile feel when palpating a port. This is achieved through a unique material that mimics the feel of human tissue. In addition, the supplied implants offer the following challenging access scenarios: deeply placed port, angled or tilted port, migrating or displaced port. External jugular and subclavian catheters can be passed through openings provided on the model. Chester Chest can be used both upright and lying down. Chester Chest is a complete unit and is supplied with a full-size torso with neck and chin, removable right arm, outer tissue flap, three inserts that make access more difficult, implanted port, CVC, PICC, openings for placement of a subclavian catheter or external jugular catheter, “blood” reservoir bag, tubing, talcum powder and instructions for use.

The child skeleton, aged 14 to 16 months, shows the unfused epiphyses of the long bones typical for this age, as well as the cartilaginous margins of many bones. The age of this skeleton was determined through a combination of measurements and landmarks. The frontal suture is almost completely closed. The atlas is in three parts, the axis is in four parts. The remaining cervical, thoracic and lumbar vertebrae are in two parts (body and arch). The first three sacral vertebrae are each in 5 parts. In the foot, the calcaneus, talus and cuboid can be clearly identified by their shape. The partially articulated skeleton is supplied on a stand as shown.

Adult Choking Torso

Colonoscopy Simulator
This colonoscopy simulator is a training model for learning and practising the handling of a colonoscope. It is made from special silicone, which feels like a living body in the examination area. The colouring of the internal structures also closely resembles that of humans.
