Packing strips, 30 cm long, specially for narrow fistula tracts and puncture channels.
Sorbalgon is made of soft, textile calcium alginate fibres that transform into a gel-like material on contact with sodium salts such as those found in blood and wound exudate. This provides therapeutic advantages for wound healing that have not previously been achievable with conventional textile dressing materials.
Application:
In principle for the treatment of all external wounds, but especially for bleeding and exuding wounds, because the gel formation has a wound-healing-promoting effect here, e.g. venous leg ulcers (ulcus cruris venosum), pressure ulcers, abscesses, boils, burns, as well as wounds that are difficult to manage in trauma and tumour surgery; for deep wounds and fistula tracts, Sorbalgon T is available.
Characteristics:
Sorbalgon is not woven; it is a soft fibre composite that can be packed and draped exceptionally well. Sorbalgon can therefore also be used to optimally treat deep and irregular wounds, because the adaptation to the wound surfaces, which is so important for wound healing, is always ensured.
Sorbalgon has very high absorbency. The bacteria-laden exudate is absorbed into the fibres themselves and, through conversion, is securely retained in the gel structure. Wounds are cleaned rapidly.
The gel-like consistency of Sorbalgon also acts like a moist dressing that prevents the wound from drying out and has a regulating effect on physiological secretion. A microclimate favourable for wound healing is created without an occlusive effect. Granulation and epithelialisation are promoted, the wound surfaces remain supple, resulting in cosmetically favourable wound-healing outcomes.
Due to the gel formation, Sorbalgon does not stick to the wound. Dressing changes can be carried out without irritating the new tissue.
Sorbalgon contains no added active ingredients and is particularly well tolerated even with long-term use. Allergic reactions and sensitisation have not been reported to date.
Sorbalgon is available as compresses in three sizes. Sorbalgon T is available as packing strips, specifically for more voluminous wounds, in two versions.
