Note:
Hypothermia is dangerous. It often occurs in people who have nearly drowned and in trauma patients outdoors. Protecting the head and chest is particularly important. With an unprotected head alone, around half of the body’s heat loss can occur. In multi-trauma patients, the chance of survival is reduced to as low as 50% if the temperature drops below 34°. If body temperature falls below 32°, it becomes life-threatening.
